1995-W PR70 UCAM NGC $5 Gold Olympic Stadium Commemorative (#20-1995-DN011)

Minted in 1995, the Centennial Olympics (Stadium) commemorative coin was authorized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the modern summer Olympics held in Atlanta in 1996.

The obverse, designed by Sculptor-Engraver Marcel Jovine, shows a picture of the Olympic Stadium in Atlanta alongside a highly stylized torch above the number 100.

The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, depicts a bald eagle with a banner in its beak showing the years 1886 - 1986

These proof coins were minted exclusively at the West Point mint facility, and carry the 'W' Mint Mark.

Proof coins are the highest quality examples of coin artistry produced by the U. S. Mint.  They are specially struck with highly polished dies and have frosted, sculpted foregrounds which give them a striking ‘cameo’ appearance.  Proof coins are minted especially for collectors.
